Pop Surrealism
Question by Lil ol’ me: Do you know any pop surrealism artists from places other than USA?
I’m doing an Art project and under the requirements we need to list 4 artists that influenced us from different cultures. I really enjoy pop surrealists, my favorite is Mark Ryden. Can anyone help me out?

There are a load of them you’d like from other cultures. The first names that springs to mind, given what Mark Ryden’s work is like, are Sarah Dolby and Joanna Braithwaite, who both work here in New Zealand. Argentina’s Ramiro Arango is another possibility (though his work is far wider ranging than just pop surrealism/magic realism), as is the Russian duo Komar and Melamid. Perhaps you should look at some earlier artists, though – some of the surrealist masters of the mid-20th century are definitely worth considering, such as Max Ernst, Paul Delvaux, Oscar Dominguez, Boleslas Biegas, Remedios Varo…or even earlier, with the 19th century works of John Millais, Arnold Bocklin, Odilon Redon, and Fernand Khnopff. There are plenty to choose from. Googling any of these names should turn up a load of images.
